The meeting Climate Change and Energy Science of Materials (CChESMate) brings together researchers from the U-Lille, Ghent University, University of Kent and KU Leuven with interests in materials science for tackling ongoing society challenges of climate change and clean energy. The event is held under the umbrella of the newly established 3i University Network, and its aim is to spark new collaborations among scientists of the four universities involved.
The meeting includes the topics of Advanced Characterization and Simulation of Materials, Decarbonised Energy, Biomass, Batteries and Related Energy Storage, Environmental Remediation, Fuel cell, Solar Energy and Light to Chemical Energy Conversion
Keynotes speakers:
Pr. Tom Depover (UGent), Evaluating the interaction of hydrogen with the materials' microstructure by advanced characterization
Dr. Michael Sluydts (UGent), To be annouced
Pr Anna Corrias (UKent), In situ Ce L3 edge HERFD-XANES of Ceria Nanocubes Embedded in a Silica Aerogel
Pr Mark Green (UKent), Synthesis and Characterisation of New Functional Materials for Energy Applications
Dr. Hervé Vezin (ULille), To be annouced
Pr. Fabio Bellot Noronha (ULille), To be annouced
Helen Leech (UKent), Funding the cross-border collaborations
Invited speakers:
Pr Gavin Montjoy, UKent
Dr Donna Arnold, UKent
Dr Sven Rogge, UGhent
Dr Aurelie Rolle, ULille
Pr Christophe Volkringer, ULille
Dr Stephane Aloise, ULille
Dr Thomas Roland, ULille
The sessions will be organized around one keynote lecture (30’) and short oral presentations (15-20’) offering the opportunity to the research groups to highlight their contributions. The poster sessions will follow to prolongate the discussions. A special session will be dedicated to the presentation of the 3i-network and cross-border funding schemes.
We encourage researchers from all four partners institutions to attend the meeting to enhance interactions and collaborative research on material science for climate change and clean energy. In this spirit, the meeting will prioritize time for both discussions during formal sessions and opportunities for networking outside of this. Visits to the research groups and facilities of the host-institution (ULille) will be organized. Since the key objectives of this meeting is to develop cross-border collaborations, it will take place only in an in person (face to face) mode.
The participation is free but the registration is necessary.
Looking forward meeting you in Lille
